First released in 2001, the Devaux coupe is an Australian automobile, designed by David Clash and inspired by the classic French coach builders of the 1930’s. She was launched as Clan Macleod in England in 1895 and rescued from the seabed in Recherche Bay, Tasmania, in 1972. She was completely restored to her original condition in Sydney in the 1980’s – 1990’s. James Craig is currently berthed in Darling Harbour in Sydney. In 1977, at age 26, Robyn Davidson left from outside Alice Springs to walk west to the Indian Ocean, accompanied by four camels and a dog. After 9 months and 2,835 kilometres she finished the trek at Hamelin Pool, north of Geralton, WA. Photo by Rick Smolan (see below).In 1989, Robyn Davidson wrote an account of her travels (“Tracks”) and in 2013 her story was made into a major movie. Rick Smolan accompanied Robyn on certain stages to photograph her journey for National Geographic.
