Imperial Airways flying boat “Centaurus” moored in the Brisbane River (near the Botanic Gardens) on 21 December 1937. It had just completed a flight from London taking about 13 days. The Short S.23 flying boat carried a crew of 5 and 17 passengers. Powered by four 920hp Bristol Pegasus Xc radial engines it had a maximum speed of 174 knots (320 km/hr).Wallace’s Hut at Falls Creek, Victoria; the oldest hut in the Victorian Alpine National Park.
