Baudin visited and mapped this area of the coast of “New Holland” in May 1801 at the direction of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The 19 metre sandstone light tower sits atop a 100 metre cliff. The lighthouse was completed in 1903, and first lit in April 1904, using whale oil initially and then vaporised kerosene. It was connected to mains electricity in 1978.
