The loading terminal of Porto Flavia in Sardinia, used for the extraction of mining products such as silver, lead, coal, sulphur, zinc and barium from a system of underground shafts and tunnels. Completed in 1924, the port is named after Flavia Vecelli, daughter (born the year it opened) of Cesare Vecelli the chief engineer and designer of the port. The mine ceased operating in the 1990’s. It is now a UNESCO-protected site.
